CSEG.us|n0thing interviewed

02.03.2010, 17:30 Uhr -

Right now the American players of Evil Genuises are preparing for the CeBIT and the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship Finals in Hannover. That's why Patrick 'eSportler' Möller asked Jordan 'n0thing' Gilbert for an interview answering some questions about their preperation and the beginning of his Counter-Strike career.

ESC.ICY BOX: You became popular as a very young boy playing awesome Counter-Strike matches. But how did you came into eSports?

Jordan 'n0thing' Gilbert: I began playing when my older brother showed me the game.  He was competing at a competitive level at local events at the time.  Eventually he let me play on his team at one of the events, which was when I was about 9 years old.  After that point, I loved playing competitively and I always aspired to make it to the professional level.

ESC.ICY BOX: How did your parents think about their 9 year old son playing Counter-Strike?

n0thing: They did not mind as long as I were to continue my studies and stay active outside of the game.  I continued being a good student as well as playing ice hockey.  They have continued to support me through my professional career.

ESC.ICY BOX: Are you still playing ice hockey or did you stop because of your Counter-Strike career?

n0thing: I am no longer playing ice hockey.  When I got to a higher level of hockey as well as counter-strike, the traveling became too much.  Before EG I had a choice to continue playing hockey or counter-strike.  I was no longer having as much fun playing ice hockey as I was playing counter-strike.  I still try to play some hockey "gathers" if you will. (smiling)

ESC.ICY BOX: Right now you are preparing for the IEM World Championship Finals in the ICY BOX Electronic Sports Center in Berlin, Teltow. What do you think about the location?

n0thing: ESC.ICY BOX has provided us with a private room and a good setup for us to be able to focus on our bootcamp without any distractions.  This is very important when we are trying to properly prepare for an event like the ESL Global Finals. Not to mention a kitchen as well. (laughing)

ESC.ICY BOX: How do you think about the replacement of UMX through Frag eXecutors?

n0thing: I think it is good that one of the best teams in the world gets a chance to compete. Too bad they didnt re-draw though. (laughing)
ESC.ICY BOX: What changed since Arbalet Cup Europe where you lost to mTw in the Consolation Final?

n0thing: I think we have all gained a better understanding of our strong points with goodfornothing in the lineup.  Hopefully we can use what we learned to be victorious this time around.

ESC.ICY BOX: How do your expectations for the World Championship Finals look like?

n0thing: I expect us to try our best.

ESC.ICY BOX: Your profile on myeg.net says that you are giving lessons. How do these lessons look like?

n0thing: I let people ask me what they want help with.  I try to give them as much advice as I can on their questions.  Sometimes I may watch a demo and critique their plays in the demo.  Either way I try to make sure they come out with a better understanding of how counter-strike should be played.

ESC.ICY BOX: Which feedback did you get till now?

n0thing: I have good feedback so far. Atleast I'd like to think.   I like to make it cheap so I can actually teach them stuff that matters instead of just showing them some flash techniques within 30 minutes.

ESC.ICY BOX: I would like to thank you for the interview and give you the chance for last words.

n0thing: Shoutout to our sponsors: Intel, Steelseries, Peregrine, Kingston HyperX, MSI, BigFoot NetWorks and GIGABYTE.  Also a shoutout to my friends over at GAMBLEIT. And thank you ESC for the hospitality. (laughing)
